Did you know??????
"Surf City" was the first Brian Wilson song to get to Number One in the US Charts. It was offered to Jan & Dean while still titled "Surfin' Woodie", and was hardly started apart from the lyric "Two girls for every boy", which Jan & Dean loved!
That concludes Jan & Dean's 1950's and 1960's singles releases. D.N.C=Did Not Chart.
These 49 singles are an impressive feat for a duo who were at their peak still in school while recording and touring. Jan & Dean's first hit (as Jan & Arnie) came on May 10th 1958, and the very last charted single was March 18th 1967. That is nine years of hit records, which by any groups standards is not a bad run. The singles that did not chart were added to show a complete list of all singles that were released, whether hits or not. It is quite an impressive list of songs, and tracking the singles through years we can see the progression of the music. The first doo-wop hits, through to the surf era and beyond ensure Jan & Dean fans have a cataloge of music from this era that is second to only The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Elvis Presley in terms of variety and production techniques.
Now Added is Jan & Dean's discography from 1970-2000. Although there were no chart hits (well, except one), Jan & Dean, with and without each other, released a number of great singles that should have been hit singles. Call back soon for more chart statistics and release notes.
